Membership Series Values - Value #3 Loving the Lost

V,M,V of ICA
Vision:
Mission: To make E_________ D________ from all nations.
Values:
#1 S_______ P_________
#2T_________ R___________
#3 Loving the Lost:  We value the Lost more than the found in how we do our outreaches both to congregants and in outreaches to the community.

Let’s define terms here:
Lost:  Some one who has not yet connected to God.
Love:  Some one that you care about so much that you are willing to sacrifice for them.

Luke 19:1-10
Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town. 2 There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich. 3 He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.

5 When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. "Zacchaeus!" he said. "Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today."
6 Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. 7 But the people were displeased. "He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner," they grumbled.

8 Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, "I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!"
9 Jesus responded, "Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost."

1. Mission.
It was Christ work on earth.  19:10
It should be pointed out that the way we view God is that he is desperately trying to save mankind.  Not judging them and trying to make it tough to get to heaven.  He is doing everything short of forcing you.
It should be our work as well.
We value your efforts to reach the Lost people of this world

2. Market
Who was Zacchaeus?  Ie… Jesus Market
Who is our market at ICA?
Unchurchafied English speakers…  is there a TOEFL test?
WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS GROUP.

3. Methods
Jesus went to Zacchaeus’s house.
Jesus showed him an honor he may not have been worthy of in the eyes of the church.
This is why Go group is still so vital to our church.
At ICA I know some of you are interested in this.  We will have a 6 week series starting in August on personal evangelism.
How we spend our money.
The main thing is that it is on your mind as we do ministry is for those who don’t yet know.

4. Message
In the case of Zacchaeus.  Let’s look in verse 8 “Upon entering the house, Jesus looked at everything Zaccheaus had and realized he was an evil man who had taken much money illegally.  Immediately Jesus said “Hey, if you want God’s blessing you must give all your wealth to me and repent.”
It doesn’t record the conversation just that they were together and Jesus cared for him.
Our message to the word shouldn’t be a judgmental one.  (We don’t have to condone every lifestyle)
But our message is that Jesus loves you and wants to save everyone.

4. Give forgiveness and second chances when someone has broken trust with you.
How do you really forgive in your heart?
Realize that if you don’t do this you could be in trouble spiritually.
This will take time and you may have to do it more than once.
Matt 6: 14-15 "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
The implications of this statement are serious.

5. What are the side effects of mistrust in relationships.
We often don’t get to choose many of our important relationships.
Mistrust in relationships is directly proportional to brokenness in relationships.
Broken relationships can Affect You Spiritually!
Broken relationships can Affect You Physically!

GO Question
Sermon Topic : ICA Membership Values 3 - Loving the Lost
Reading         : Luke 19:1-10
Highlights   :
- Mission : Ultimately the Mission of all Christians is to help their fellow man back to God.
- Market  : The market of ICA is to embrace the unchurchafied English speakers of Surabaya.
- Methods : We do different missions and ministry for outreach, also through our Go Group for the lost.
- Message : Jesus loves you and wants to save everyone.

Dear GG Leaders,
Target of GG today is to find out each member's market, talk about their difficulties, give ideas/comment how to reach out and encourage one another to step out to LOST.

Questions :
1. What made you to stay in GG? Foods? Friends? Encouragements? Remember your first times.

2. Have you ever experienced Lost & Found by GOD like Luke 15 (the Lost Sheep parable) in your life? How HE approached you again?

3. Who do you think is your market for the lost?

4. Is it easy for you to bring your friend (in your market) to ICA or your GG?
Easy? Difficult? What made it difficult?

5. What methods you will use for reaching the lost? Have you done this personally / go group-wise?

6. How do you treat new comer in ICA or person sit beside you in ICA?
     a. Ignore? Just say Hello? Talk to them after service?
     b. Are you doing the same things that made you feel comfortable to the new people at ICA? Yes, No.
     c. What is the difficulty? How should we treat them?
(Look to this scripture : 2 Corinthians 5:11-6:2, wouldn't u like other people to experience that also?)

There are lots of LOST people out there. Let's start from the lost people who go to ICA first before anything else and people around you (your market). We need more workers!
Remember that ultimately, Jesus wants to save everyone and not judge people. Has this been your view on christianity? (no need to answer this, just reflect and share)

Prayer Point :
- Pray for each member for ministry (individually / through church ministry) and outreaches in the go group and personal life.
- Pray for God's guidance in your Go Group about this.
