Focus…
 

Introduction:

~ Without FOCUS we will accomplish little.

~ with focus we can leave RIPPLES that will influence generations.

~ We are to be like SALT and LIGHT to the world.
 

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 You are the light of the world—like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. 15 Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Focus on the CALL

~“Go and make disciples of all nations”

(Matthew 28:18-20)

~A “disciple” is, a FOLLOWER of Christ.

~As “followers” we are to make “followers.”
 


18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Focus on the CALL

~ “Go and make disciples of all nations”

~ A “disciple” is, a FOLLOWER of Christ.

Focus on the REASON

    * ~Because of their SIN, people are going to hell. (Romans 6:23)
    * ~But “anyone who calls” on Jesus will be saved. (Romans 10:13-15)
    * ~But they need us to EXPLAIN how to call on Jesus.
    * ~We are the KEY to their salvation. (2 Corinthians 4:7)

 

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23
 


People go to hell because of Sin,

    ~ not because God is angry

    ~ not because they did not hear
 

“Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?

Focus on the REASON

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay pots containing this great treasure.  This makes it clear that this great power is from God, not from ourselves.

Focus on the EMPOWERMENT

~ “you will receive power and will tell people about me” (Acts 1:8)

~ The tools are AVAILABLE, we just need to go to the tool-shed.
 

“But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Focus on the OPPORTUNITIES

~ Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well.

(John 4)

~ Sometimes it’s not WHO we want.

~ Sometimes it’s not WHEN we want.

~ Sometimes it’s MESSY.

~ Sometimes it’s ONLY you.
