A Testimony From Edwin & Jeanette Faith:
When They Move to Singapore

We saw how God has worked miraculously in our lives.

When we first left for Singapore, we did not know how to get ferry from Batam. We even didn't know where to go when to tell the taxi driver. But we just said we wanted to go to the port. The taxi driver then realised there is 'mangsa baru nih' as we seem to be very new and lots of things to carry...

So he offered us 350rb for fiskal but we refused then he was confused why we didn't want to save 300rb. Whist talking, GOD showed me the leaflet in his taxi and I requested to see it... I then saw that there are more than 1 port in Batam to catch ferry to Singapore, but the nearest is Batam Centre. The taxi driver offered us to go to Sekupang but he missed the chance to fool us.. It was also stated that the rate is 40rb.

As we about to arrive at Batam Centre, we found out that he is a Pentecostal Christian and just came back from church... but then he asked for 50rb, instead of 40rb. We gave it anyway, though would like to ask "Isnt it 40rb?" but we thought let him deal it with God. We gave it and he looked ashamed but still accepting it. We sometimes wonder,..why did he do that though he also knew that we are also Christian..

We then bought ferry tickets and again offered for the 350rb fiscal. As we refused, they wondered whether we would get it reimbursed by the company. As we answered "no" they looked at us strangely... the fiscal officer even got upset with us.

My goodness,.. what is happening with this country, we wondered.. why is everybody is looking for the benefit of themselves and no wonder the country never developed.

Anyway.. we managed to get to Singapore and checked in to the hotel. By the time we arrived in Singapore - Oxford Hotel, it was 4pm.. whilst the church service is at 4.15pm. We then rushed to the nearest bus stop, asked how to get to suntec city.

After got on the bus, we didn't know where to get off and we missed the stop for suntec city... then we got off and entered the nearest entrance door. We didn't know where it was and where to go. Suddenly when we looked up we saw a long queue and we realised that GOD has lead us the way to the church by getting off at the wrong bus stop...

ISN'T HE FAITHFUL? ISN'T HE GUIDING US ALL THE WAY WHEREVER HIS CHILDREN GO..

During this trip I experienced a deeper walk with GOD,.. as in previous trips I depended on God and asked for direction but in this trip I let GOD lead my way and trust HIM to wherever He leads me, though it may seem we are going to the wrong direction..

That is not all... Each day we spent in the hotel we didn't know what to do for tomorrow, all I prayed is " GOD, lead me to YOUR way"

One day at a time He directed us to have my medical check up, look for a place to stay and got my EP, look for the colleges for Edwin and etc. The apartment we stayed was the one and only we saw.. it was in the area of where senior citizen live so that is why the rent is quite cheap. It is also furnished and the block has recetly been renovated.. so, we knew that it was God's provision for us..

Although until now, the fridge is broken, but GOD left the freezer on for us to keep some food.. Isn't HE awesome ?? and though the bed is broken, GOD left the mattrass OK for us..

There is still many things happened during our stay here.. Little things, big things HE provided for us. Even when we are still looking for a bed, but our friend insisted us to ask to the owner to change the bed.. I just prayed "God, we need a bed so that our back won't be more in pain", then suddenly Karen (my officemate) today offered me a bed that her grandma is throwing away.

Well... little things like a bed lamp... I prayed to God " God I need a bed lamp, so that I can read the bible but don't need to turn on the lights in the morning and wake Edwin up " Suddenly, Jenny (my GO Group) gave me a bed lamp whilst she was in Singapore...

Until now, many things are still needed... not only materially but also other things, like a sponsor, church, fellowship, status, PR etc... but we believed that it was God who supplied all our needs. So, we just prayed for everything we needed. Even, I was surprised that Gabrielle (my boss) today asked me if I needed any money and she is willing to lend me some if so... Until now,.. we are still financially OK... but it shows how much GOD cares for us and that is why everyday and most Sundays I can't worship in songs and praises but only in silence and tears as I can't say in words any longer how much He has done for me in the cross but yet until now He still provided what I need...

I hope a bit of my testimony will give encouragements to all of my friends who probably are going through tough times.. knowing that God SOMETIMES will not give everything we WANTED but He ALWAYS gives BETTER than we wanted and expected or even imagined, although it may seem to be far than what a "success" is called in 'our terms' but guaranteed a real success only if we trusted Him to show us His way. Rom 8:28 "For we know that everything works for good for those who loves God, those who are called according to His will" ( hope I quoted correctly ).

May The Lord Bless you abundantly..
