Sermon

Spectacular News

  • A spectacular experience will always be told over and over by those who experience it.
  • Paul always constantly telling about his own experience about the personal encounter with Jesus (Act 26:19-23).

Act 26

19 “So then, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven.  20 First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.  21 That is why the Jews seized me in the temple courts and tried to kill me.  22 But I have had God’s help to this very day, and so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen—  23 that the Christ would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would proclaim light to his own people and to the Gentiles.”

Paul’s Testimony

Act 22:

14 “Then he said: ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you to know his will and to see the Righteous One and to hear words from his mouth.  15 You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.  16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’

I don’t have a spectacular experience?

  • But the reality that we have salvation, should have been spectacular enough for everyone.

But the question is: Why can’t we talk / speak / preach like Paul did?

  • They don’t really think salvation is spectacular.
  • They don’t have personal relationship with Jesus.
  • They must be insensitive.

Phil 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed— not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence— continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

Things that you can not avoid after you have salvation as spectacular news and after you work out your salvation:

  • You would have close relationship with Jesus.
  • You would also hear his voice. (Expecting this will happen to you),
  • What should you do?

Then you are on the right path, what you should do is just:
Go Forth! Have Faith! Just Do it! Expecting God’s voice! After eventually you hear God’s voice, again, Go Forth! Have Faith, Just Do it!

Mt 25:23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

GO Question

Ice Breaker: Have you ever had a spectacular experience? Please share
one.

  1. When did you encounter with Jesus for the first time? Have you ever shared it with others?
  2. Do you have a close relationship with Jesus? Have you ever hear His voice?
  3. When Paul said "work your salvation", what does it mean?
  4. Do you believe in your salvation? Do you think your salvation is spectacular?

Please make a commitment that you will share your salvation to at least
one person this week.
Pray that God will open an opportunity  for you to share it with
unbeliever.

Have a wonderful fellowship and have a great week!
